Martial Arts

KARATE

Karate is a martial art that emphasizes discipline, mental focus, body strengthening and self defence. The child progresses through different levels of training with the acquisition of new skills. Skills must be demonstrated by testing. When tests are successfully completed, the student is promoted to a new rank, either a belt or stripe. Students will learn how to block, strike and kick. This is developed into kata training with a focus on mind-body conditioning and mastery.

The instructor will notify parents about uniforms, but track pants and t-shirts are acceptable initially.

We offer two different styles of Karate:

Karate 1 & 2 Instructor, Tricia Dass, teaches Shotokan Karate. It is based on the principles of respect, patience and compassion.
