We would like to remind you that proper fitness etiquette is expected of you as a participant in the Armour Heights Adult fitness classes: 

If you are unable to follow these guidelines, then our classes might not be for you. You are encouraged to choose a different fitness facility that will work for you and better fit your needs.
 
We thank you in advance for your co-operation in being considerate of other participants, so everyone can enjoy the fitness programs offered at The Armour Heights Community Centre.

BALLET BARRE
This is a strengthening and toning workout (no cardio) using ballet inspired moves. Participants will alternate time at the barre with using chairs for balance as space is limited.

BODY SCULPTING
A one-hour intense muscular strengthening and toning workout using weights, bodybars, dynabands and tubes. It offers an excellent opportunity for participants who want to focus more heavily on establishing muscular definition and/or increasing lean tissue to improve postural strength. Monday's class will include a cardiovascular component.

CARDIO CORE
A total body, fat burning, interval workout. Alternate between resistance training exercises and low-impact cardio to get the heart rate going and make you sweat!

CARDIO SALSA
Sweat up a storm while raising your heart rate to a peak efficiency with Latin music that will inspire you to dance with style.

GENTLE FIT
A full workout at a more moderate pace. Emphasis is on range of motion rather than high-impact movements. Warm-up and cool-down are longer and the cardio segment has slower reps. Ideal for those returning to fitness or wanting a gentler class.

HATHA/HATHA FLOW
Hatha Yoga is a slower yoga compared to Ashtanga. This classical approach to yoga focuses on breathing awareness and balance and energizes mind, body and soul. Please bring your own mat.

JAZZERCISE
Jazzercise is a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training and body sculpting with cardio.

MINDFUL YOGA
A blend of Yin Yoga, with poses held for 3-5 minutes to stimulate the inner body, and Yang Yoga, where rhythmic flow influences the outer body. A meditative attitude permeates the practice to bring integrity and ease to body and mind.Please bring your own mat.

MIXED BAG
A high energy mix which includes muscle conditioning, boxing and a non-step cardiovascular component.

NIA
Are you looking for a great total-body workout? NIA (neuromuscular integrative action) combines movements from low-impact aerobics, dance, martial arts and yoga. The result is a dynamic cardiovascular and body conditioning program set to eclectic music that will invigorate and inspire you.

PILATES
Pilates is a system of body movement training that focuses on breathing control, correct body alignment and muscle balance and control to achieve flowing movement with maximum ease. RESTORATIVE PILATES has a special emphasis on those with previous injuries or back problems and is also suitable for beginners. INTERMEDIATE PILATES is a more athletic class for participants with previous Pilates experience. Please bring your own mat.

POWER OF POSTURE
Good posture is the foundation to overall great health, energy and youthful movement, including strengthening the core and especially the back! This class focuses on improving the strength and endurance of all the large muscle groups that support tall, strong posture. Come join the fun & leave feeling energized, taller & younger!

POWER YOGA/YOGA FLOW INT
Uses Ashtanga's energizing series of flowing postures known as Vinyasa Flow. These styles usually start with a fast-paced series of poses called sun salutations, followed by a flow of standing poses which maximize strength, concentration and vitality, linking breathing and movement. Please bring your own mat.

STEP 'N' PUMP
A stimulating work-out using the step for the aerobic portion and muscle conditioning, using hand weights and resistance training for the strength/endurance portion. A warm-up, floor work and cool-down round out this class. Previous step training is recommended.

STRETCH & STRENGTH
This class uses a wide range of exercises to stretch, strengthen and tone muscles and joints. Hand weights, blocks, straps, walls & your own body weight are used to achieve optimal stretches and more effective resistance training. There is no aerobic component.

TABATA CIRCUIT
Tabata training workouts are all the rage these days and for good reason: This high energy training is fun, blasts calories and produces remarkable results.

TAI CHI BEGINNER
Tai Chi is part of the Chinese Internal Martial Arts System. It is a series of postures linked together with flowing, circular movements that keep the body, mind, and spirit limber and balanced. Tai Chi promotes one's mental tranquility, improves physical fitness, increases blood circulation and is an excellent form of self-defense. Previous experience in Tai Chi is required.

TOTAL BODY WORKOUT

A great total body workout combining cardiovascular activity with targeted toning exercises for abdominals, arms, legs and buttocks.

20-20-20
A complete workout from head to toe! This class consists of 20 minutes of high energy cardiovascular activity with step, 20 minutes of toning/strengthening & 20 minutes of stretching.

YOGA CLASSES
Revitalize the body’s energy centres. Regenerate body, mind and spirit and experience deep relaxation. Ashtanga yoga is a more energizing, somewhat faster paced class. Participants must provide their own yoga mat.

YOGALATES
A combination of Pilates & Yoga to stretch and strengthen your body. The emphasis is on core control in all poses and focus on breathing while in motion. The full body is covered, leaving you feeling toned and flexible. Please bring your own mat.

ZUMBA/ZUMBA GOLD
Get ready to tone and burn fat with interval training to a Latin beat. Zumba Gold is geared toward older adults.
